The First Cut Exhibition

A few weeks back I went along to the latest exhibition at the Manchester City Gallery, The First Cut.

Exhibiting artists include Rob Ryan, Su Blackwell and Nicola Dale. The exhibition will travel the country, but for now is in Manchester until 27th January.

There was a competition for students to have their work exhibited along side practicing artists and entering it was set as our self directed project.
I worked from a photograph of my grandfather, whom I have never met though wish I had the opportunity to. The idea behind the work was very simple, you can move through space yet not through time and sometimes we all wish you could do both. Because of this I worked on train tickets I had collected on my daily commute to Manchester.
